On July 3, 2025, Inria and ONERA's AILab co-organized a day dedicated to Artificial Intelligence (AI) for defense, hosted in Dijon as part of the PFIA.
The objective was to bring together experts, institutional representatives, and industry professionals to explore two key themes:
- Embedded AI for Defense (Robotics, Autonomous Systems)
- Generative AI and Foundation Models for Mission Preparation and Planning
During this event, 3 working sessions took place:
- Cooperative Fleet Management
- Learning and Foundation Models
- Autonomous Navigation
Invited conferences were also held:
- Marc Cavazza (University of Stirling): Similarities and Differences between Human Agency and AI
- Jean-Francois Bonastre (Inria Defense): The Imperative of Explainability in Defense AI
Around numerous technical presentations, strategic discussions took place with representatives from l'AMIAD, Inria, ONERA, CEA Tech, ISL, ENSTA, Université Le Havre Normandie, Thales, Safran Electronics & Defense, Avionics USA, LLC., Airbus Defence and Space, and Dassault Aviation. These discussions enabled a state-of-the-art overview of AI technology integration in simulation environments and defense systems, and stimulated reflection on future AI applications in Defense and encouragement of intersectoral collaboration.
