Prof.Joël Cugnoni's field of research focuses on the mechanics of composite materials which includes fiber reinforced composites, metal matrix composites and alloys, heterogeneous, multiscale structured materials and biomaterials among others. His main research interest aims to understand the relationship between the hierarchical structure of composite & heterogeneous materials and their properties to highlight new ways to design the next generation of multifunctional composite materials.
