SPIS interoperability with Space Environment Databases

We developped an interoperability layer for the Spacecraft-Plasma Interaction Software in the frame of the Europlanet 2024 RI framework program of the European commission.

This layer is compatible with the 6.1 version of SPIS, dedicated to the simulation of the electrostatic cleanliness of space weather and scientific exploration mission, as well as to the evaluation of its impact on scientific instrument measurements.

The interoperability layer allows one to connect SPIS to the major space environment databases and/or frameworks, to select and upload environmental parameters (Electric and magnetic fields, particle density, velocity and temperature,...) and to use them to simulate the charge state and the instrument measurement of a space mission. The interoperability framework is currently providing access to the CDPP's AMDA and NASA's CDAWeb databases as well as to the EU's IMPEx framework.
