Artificial Intelligence and Decision Making
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a field of computer science which, through its ability to efficiently process data, to build decisions and to automate some processes, is likely to play a major societal and economic role. The fields of Aeronautics, Space and Defense (ASD) are no exception to this trend.
This issue of Aerospace Lab journal contains contributions relating to two traditional approaches to AI - formal and empirical - and features articles on representation and use of knowledge, information extraction from data streams, path planning, activity planning, consensus seeking, multi-agent architecture for perception, certification of on-board vision systems, use of learning to process large volumes of experimental data and finally use of deep learning for Earth observation.
