Spacecraft-Plasma interaction Software

SPIS is the world-leading spacecraft charging simulation code. It is mainly developed by ONERA and Artenum, with contributions from major European space industries and academic institutions gathered in the SPINE community and with funding from European anf French space agencies. SPIS primary aims at computing the charge level of spacecraft surfaces exposed to the space environment, but it was extended over years to handle plasma physics (in particular rfor the accurate simulation of electric thruster plume), radiation induced charge and conductivity, micro-physics of the discharge, charge and transport of dusts and droplets,... SPIS is a modular open-source software.

Virtual Observatory plugin to SPIS Europlanet 2024 RI

The Virtual Observatory plugin for SPIS has been developped in the frame of the Europlanet RI 2024 project from the European Commission. It allows to connect SPIS to environment databases and tools that use a structure consistent with the SPASE data model and with the IVOA recommendations. The plugin is currently under development and is provided by beta testing. Requires SPIS v6.1 and JAVA 8 and includes the ONERA Space Library.

Solar Cell Charging and Electrostatic Risks

The SoCCER software has been developped at ONERA to gather engineering numerical models targeting the charging and electrostatic risk evaluation of the Solar generators and solar cells. SoCCER is a versatile tool that support model addition through plugins. The downloadable version comes with the HiVES model that computes the current collection by solar cell exposed condutors. Additionnal plugins will be integrated / proposed at a further stage. Requires JAVA 8 and includes the ONERA User Interface and Space Library.
