The Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, AILab, was created to federate the AI activities carried out in ONERA's seven departments, and to respond to the academic, societal and industrial challenges linked to AI in the Aeronautics-Space-Defense fields.

It comprises over a hundred engineers and researchers involved in the study and development of artificial intelligence techniques. The AILab is structured around seven scientific axes: fundamental AI, large-scale computing codes, physical models, decision-making, system autonomy, perception, and human-IA interactions. The concerns of trusted AI, as well as those of ethics and the environmental and human cost (frugal AI) of AI models, are shared by all these areas.

The laboratory is coordinated by Adrien Chan Hon Tong and Gauthier Picard.
