This area focuses on interactions between humans and autonomous systems based on AI techniques. AI has, and will have, multiple impacts on humans and on collaboration with increasingly autonomous artificial agents in terms of decision-making, adaptation and communication. Here the question of explicability is central, whether from an algorithmic point of view through the design, among other things, of more ‘transparent’ programmes, or from a human point of view: how, for example, humans perceive, integrate, evaluate or trust algorithms and their results... AI is ultimately a prolific purveyor of new tools that can be used to process data derived from human activity and thus enable us to refine our theoretical understanding of the human.
